Open invitation to Melanie's 30th birthday party!
Those of you who know me well are probably a little confused by this blog title - "It's July and Melanie's birthday is in February...what?"
This party is going to take a while to prepare for, let me explain:
Saturday, February 12th, 2011 is my 30th birthday. I plan to turn 30 in the Big Easy - that's right, New Orleans baby! Sequence of events for the weekend:
1. Friday, 2/11/11 - arrive in New Orleans and check into hotel. Eat fabulous Cajun food.
2. Saturday, 2/12/11:
a. Rest, eat light meals, go to bed early
Wait, what?! Rest up? You were thinking we were going to party it up on my 30th in the biggest party town in the South, right? Wait for it...
3. Sunday, 2/13/11, 7:00 am - run the Rock N' Roll Marathon
You read that right ladies and gentlemen - I'm bringing in my 30th year crazy-style. What lessens the angst of turning 30? Running a marathon (or so my theory goes).
4. Sunday, 2/13/11, post-marathon - Hurricanes at Pat O'Briens (assuming I'm not in the hospital and am capable of consuming massive amounts of alcohol)
5. Monday, 2/14/11 - beignets at Cafe du Monde, tour New Orleans (without too much walking around)
So my question is - who's coming to New Orleans for my 30th birthday?! And who's crazy enough to run it with me?!
So now that it's out there on the public domain, I guess I really have to do this thing...
