Bubble Tommy!
Mama C always brings the best surprises! This time, Ma C's surprise was a Thomas the Train bubble blower that whistles. Woah! Mack is having such fun with it! Like most little boys, Mack love Thomas the Train (Tommy Train) and we are beginning to acquire a small collection of Thomas paraphanalia - from the figures, to the bubble blowing Tommy, to the t-shirts, PJs and lunchbox. Personally, I think the actual Thomas the Train stories (at least the ones on the DVD Santa brought Mack) are a little strange and sometimes convey questionable messages. But who can deny the power of a talking a train! (PS - I am not exactly sure what's up with Mack's clothing in the below pictures. I came home from work on Thursday and Ma C just said that Mack had put on that second shirt and would not entertain the idea of changing the way it was draped over his head and arm. He's really starting to get his own ideas of what he will and won't wear.)

Literacy
Back in August 2009 I posted a video of Mackey & I reading Brown Bear, Brown Bear.
My how times have changed! This is Mack "reading" Pete the Cat. I know that Richard & I are probably the only ones who can actually tell what he's saying in this video, so you'll just have to trust me that he's hitting most of the high points of the story accurately (at least for the first few pages until he decides he's all done and ready to read another book! He definitely has the attention span you'd expect in a 2 year old).

Luckily for me, Mack has finally decided to allow me to sit in the rocking chair with him again...at least, some nights. We still read together every night but we usually take turns passing the books back & forth, taking turns reading them. He's my little independant boy.
