"I Heard the Bells" is my heartsong this season. While this year has brought mostly light in my life, I read the news and am heartbroken by the darkness of our fallen world. I pray every day that my baby boy would be protected from the pain that this earth can bring. But our savior was born to overcome the darkness and I trust Mackey to His hands. I love the reminder of these lyrics:
And in despair I bowed my head
"There is no peace on earth," I said,
"For hate is strong and mocks the song
of peace on earth, good will to men."
Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
"GOD IS NOT DEAD; NOR DOTH HE SLEEP,
The wrong shall fail, the right prevail,
With peace on earth, good will to men."
Christmas is a tough season with all the hustle and bustle, the shopping, and stress of making that Dec 25th deadline. But, oh, just to pause and recognize the awesome power in the knowledge that God came down to the world as a little baby to live amongst and die for us...
Let that be the power that reigns over this and every season.

That gave me chills, and a much needed reminder to slow down and thank God for loving us enough to save us from ourselves.
